In collaboration with Million Girls Moonshot and STEMnext Funding Opportunity, the Hawaiʻi Afterschool Alliance (HAA) has developed a STEM Program Incentive Opportunity, created to enhance existing and newly formed STEM experiences for afterschool educators working with K-12 youth. This opportunity uses the following MGM resources:
Combining STEM activities, role model experiences, and family engagement in this way is an impactful approach for afterschool sites to introduce youth to STEM topics and break down barriers between students and STEM pathways.
To assess student and program level impact, programs who opt-in will have the opportunity to participate in data collection using Partnerships in Education and Resilience (PEAR) tools. Retrospective surveys will be administered to gauge the effectiveness of programming in developing a STEM identity among youth.
